As the pilot bit drills the center of the hole, the ring bit simultaneously expands the hole to a larger diameter, allowing the 168mm steel casing to advance down with the drill string. This innovative process drills and cases the hole at the same time, completely securing the borehole wall from the moment drilling begins.
