MSD supplies slide block casing systems with discrete sliding blocks, 13 confirmed configurations for 146–610 mm casing OD, and listed 4–18 inch hammer types.
MSD supplies slide block casing systems that use discrete blocks moving outward in guide slots to create the reaming diameter around a center bit. This retrievable block structure is different from a standard concentric fixed ring-bit system and from a casing system with movable wings.
The confirmed table contains 13 configurations from 146 Slide Block Casing to 610 Slide Block Casing. Casing OD, maximum center-bit OD, casing-shoe ID, maximum reaming OD, and hammer type vary by row; if the casing wall thickness differs from the standard design, a special design is required.
| Schema | Model | Casing OD (mm) | Maximum OD of Center Bit (mm) | Casing Shoe ID (mm) | Maximum OD of Reaming (mm) | Hammer Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 146 Slide Block Casing | 146 | 123 | 115 | 156 | 4 inch | |
| 168 Slide Block Casing | 168 | 146 | 140 | 185 | 5 inch | |
| 178 Slide Block Casing | 178 | 156 | 150 | 193 | 5 inch | |
| 183 Slide Block Casing | 183 | 160 | 154 | 193 | 5 inch | |
| 194 Slide Block Casing | 194 | 178 | 166 | 211 | 6 inch | |
| 219 Slide Block Casing | 219 | 203 | 193 | 237 | 6–7 inch | |
| 245 Slide Block Casing | 245 | 220 | 210 | 260 | 6–8 inch | |
| 273 Slide Block Casing | 273 | 251 | 241 | 308 | 8 inch | |
| 325 Slide Block Casing | 325 | 298 | 281 | 378 | 8–10 inch | |
| 377 Slide Block Casing | 377 | 350 | 335 | 430 | 10–12 inch | |
| 406 Slide Block Casing | 406 | 380 | 363 | 426 | 12 inch | |
| 560 Slide Block Casing | 560 | 530 | 511 | 590 | 18 inch | |
| 610 Slide Block Casing | 610 | 582 | 556 | 640 | 18 inch |
Note: The dimensions above are standard design dimensions. Special design is required if the casing wall thickness differs.

CASE STUDIES
A slide block casing system is a retrievable casing-advancement structure that uses discrete blocks moving in guide slots. During drilling, the blocks move outward to create the reaming diameter around the center bit while the casing advances.
This page covers the slide-block product entity. It is not the standard concentric casing system with a fixed ring bit, and it is not the concentric casing system with movable wings. Using the structural name consistently keeps selection focused on the required block mechanism.
The center bit drills the central section, while the separate slide blocks travel outward along their guide slots to enlarge the hole to the listed maximum reaming OD. The slide-block assembly is designed to be retrieved after the relevant drilling stage.
The confirmed material identifies the outward sliding-block movement and retrievable structure. It does not confirm that eccentric bit movement actuates block retraction, so that specific operating sequence should be checked against the supplied drawing or technical confirmation for the selected model.
The current table lists 13 configurations from 146 Slide Block Casing to 610 Slide Block Casing. The corresponding casing ODs run from 146 to 610 mm, maximum center-bit ODs from 123 to 582 mm, casing-shoe IDs from 115 to 556 mm, and maximum reaming ODs from 156 to 640 mm.
Listed hammer types range from 4 inch to 18 inch, with several rows showing an allowable hammer-size range. These values are row-specific; the endpoints do not mean that every intermediate casing size or an unlisted hammer combination is available.
Slide block casing systems may be evaluated for grouting, water-well, foundation, and other overburden drilling work where a casing-advancement method with a retrievable block assembly is required. Suitability must be checked against the actual ground profile, hole direction, required casing dimensions, drilling depth, and equipment.
Select one complete row by matching casing OD, maximum center-bit OD, casing-shoe ID, maximum reaming OD, and hammer type. A casing OD or hammer size alone is not sufficient because dimensions and listed power-tool requirements change by configuration. The current table also states that a different casing wall thickness requires a special design.
For a quotation, provide the required casing OD and wall thickness, casing-shoe ID, target reaming or finished-hole diameter, exact hammer model and size, drilling-rig details, casing length and connection, ground description, required cased depth, hole direction, and quantity.
For replacement orders, also provide the current slide block casing model, product markings, measured dimensions, and clear photos or drawings of the center bit, blocks, guide structure, and casing shoe. MSD will compare this information with the confirmed configuration before selection.
