Frequently Asked
Questions

A diamond casing shoe is installed at the lower end of a casing string used in exploration core drilling. Its cutting area is positioned around the exterior and front of the shoe, helping establish a path for the casing while its internal passage remains suitable for compatible core drilling tools. It is selected as part of the casing system rather than as the primary coring bit.
They are used to help drill, position, or seat casing through suitable near-surface, unconsolidated, broken, or mixed ground in exploration drilling. Application depends on the formation, casing system, flushing, rig capability, alignment, and operating conditions, so successful casing advancement cannot be guaranteed from the shoe type alone.
An impregnated casing shoe contains diamond particles distributed through a metal matrix, while a surface-set shoe uses exposed diamond elements on the cutting face. Selection depends on formation competency, abrasiveness, fracturing, particle structure, flushing, available rotation, and operating conditions. It should not be reduced to an absolute hard-rock versus soft-rock rule.
The current parameter table lists EW, AW, BW, NW, HW, and PW systems with Outside Diameter and Inside Diameter. Dimensions shown are nominal reference dimensions. Confirm the complete system, casing dimensions, connection, OD, ID, internal clearance, and compatible core drilling components before ordering.
Provide the EW, AW, BW, NW, HW, or PW system; required OD and ID; impregnated or surface-set configuration; casing dimensions; thread or connection; matching core barrel and core bit; formation; casing depth; flushing conditions; rig information; and quantity. For replacements, also provide markings, measured dimensions, photographs, drawings, and wear condition.
