Explore MSD 18-24 inch DTH bits in confirmed 550–1000 mm diameters for large-diameter drilling applications, bit-shank verification, and configuration selection.
MSD supplies 18-24 inch DTH bits for large-diameter drilling configurations. The current parameter table contains five confirmed diameters: 550, 600, 700, 800, and 1000 mm. These configurations use different Gauge Button, Front Button, Back Button, Air Hole, and Weight specifications according to diameter. The current parameter table does not identify a named Bit Shank, Face Design, Button Shape, or Spline configuration. The required Bit Shank must therefore be verified against the exact hammer model, existing bit, drawing, dimensions, or sample before ordering. The 18-24 Inch designation is the page’s nominal product classification and does not redefine the actual millimeter diameters listed in the parameter table.

CASE STUDIES
MSD supplies 18-24 inch DTH bits for large-diameter drilling applications. The current parameter table includes five confirmed bit diameters: 550, 600, 700, 800, and 1000 mm.
The 18-24 Inch designation defines the nominal product category. Final selection must be based on the actual diameter and complete configuration rather than the nominal inch classification alone.
The current parameter table contains one combined 18-24 Inch DTH Bits configuration group. It does not list MSD18A, MSD24A, or another named Bit Shank.
The confirmed diameter configurations are 550, 600, 700, 800, and 1000 mm. Each diameter has its own Gauge Button, Front Button, Back Button, Air Hole, and Weight specifications.
Because no named Bit Shank is provided in the current parameter table, the required Shank must be confirmed from the exact hammer model, current bit marking, Shank drawing, dimensions, or physical sample before the configuration is approved.
Large-diameter DTH bit selection requires the Hammer Model, verified Bit Shank, required bit and finished hole diameters, drilling system, and working conditions to be reviewed together.
Diameter alone does not establish compatibility. The drill rig, drill string, available air supply, rock formation, hole depth, rotation arrangement, lifting capacity, and handling conditions may also affect the final configuration.
The exact parameter row for the selected diameter should be used when confirming the Button configuration, Air Holes, Weight, and associated drilling-system requirements.
The current parameter table provides Gauge Button, Front Button, Back Button, and Air Hole information. Face Design and Button Shape are not listed and should not be assumed from the nominal product classification.
550 mm — 24ר20 mm Gauge Buttons, 20ר20 mm + 36ר19 mm + 33ר16 mm Front Buttons, 12ר12 mm Back Buttons, and 6 Air Holes.
600 mm — 24ר20 mm Gauge Buttons, 24ר20 mm + 60ר20 mm + 56ר16 mm Front Buttons, 24ר14 mm Back Buttons, and 6 Air Holes.
700 mm — 48ר20 mm Gauge Buttons, 48ר20 mm + 60ר19 mm + 73ר18 mm Front Buttons, 48ר16 mm Back Buttons, and 6 Air Holes.
800 mm — 30ר20 mm Gauge Buttons, 24ר20 mm + 60ר20 mm + 90ר18 mm Front Buttons, 12ר16 mm Back Buttons, and 6 Air Holes.
1000 mm — 48ר20 mm Gauge Buttons, 36ר20 mm + 192ר20 mm + 81ר18 mm Front Buttons, 18ר16 mm Back Buttons, and 6 Air Holes.
If Face Design, Button Shape, Bit Shank, Splines, or another unlisted specification must be confirmed, provide the existing product specification, drawing, dimensions, photographs, or sample for technical review.
The listed Bit Diameter does not automatically confirm Hammer compatibility. A similar nominal inch classification also does not establish that a bit will fit a particular DTH hammer.
Final matching requires confirmation of the exact Hammer Model, verified Bit Shank, selected diameter, finished hole diameter, drilling requirements, and complete drilling-system configuration.
Because the current parameter table does not provide a named Bit Shank, all five configurations require Shank verification before Hammer matching is confirmed. Replacement orders should include the existing bit marking, Shank drawing, dimensions, photographs, or sample where available.
MSD 18-24 inch DTH bit configurations may be reviewed for mining, quarrying, water-well drilling, construction, foundation drilling, piling, and other large-diameter drilling applications.
Suitability depends on the required diameter, verified Bit Shank, Hammer Model, rock formation, hole depth, drilling system, rig capacity, air supply, and operating conditions. A configuration should not be selected from the application name or diameter alone.
To review an 18-24 inch DTH bit configuration, provide the following information:
Hammer Model — The exact DTH hammer model or complete drilling-system information.
Bit Shank — The required Shank designation, supported by a drawing, dimensions, photographs, or sample when necessary.
Diameter — The required bit diameter and finished hole diameter in millimeters.
Application — The intended mining, quarrying, water-well, construction, foundation, piling, or other drilling application.
Rock Formation — The relevant rock or ground condition.
Drilling Conditions — Hole depth, drill-rig information, drill string, available air supply, rotation arrangement, lifting capacity, and handling requirements.
For replacement orders, also provide the current bit model or marking and any available product specification, drawing, clear photographs, or sample. This information allows MSD to review the Shank, diameter, Button configuration, and complete drilling-system requirements before confirming the final configuration.
