18-24 Inch DTH Bits in 550–1000 mm Diameters

MSD supplies 18–24 inch DTH bits with MSD18A and MSD24A Bit Shank options. The confirmed product range includes 550, 600, 700, 800, and 1000 mm bit diameters.

The 18–24 inch designation refers to the nominal product and Shank category, not the actual bit diameter.

The listed configurations differ in gauge-button layouts, front-button layouts, back-button arrangements, and weights. All five listed configurations use six air holes. Face Design, Button Shape, and Splines are not listed in the current parameter table.

The complete configuration should therefore be reviewed rather than selecting the bit from the nominal 18 or 24 inch classification alone.

Available Bit Shanks and Diameter Groups

The current product table contains two Bit Shank groups.

MSD18A Shank DTH Bits — Available in 550, 600, and 700 mm diameters.

MSD24A Shank DTH Bits — Available in 800 and 1000 mm diameters.

The overall page range is 550–1000 mm, but this does not mean every intermediate diameter is available or that MSD18A and MSD24A are interchangeable.

MSD18A Configuration Differences

MSD18A is available in 550, 600, and 700 mm diameters. As diameter increases, the gauge-button quantity, grouped front-button arrangement, back-button size, and weight change. All three configurations use six air holes.

The listed weight increases from 460 kg at 550 mm to 630 kg at 700 mm. The exact Gauge Button, Front Button, and Back Button arrangement should be checked in the corresponding parameter row.

MSD24A Configuration Differences

MSD24A is available in 800 and 1000 mm diameters. The 1000 mm configuration uses more Gauge Buttons, Front Buttons, and Back Buttons and has a higher listed weight than the 800 mm configuration. Both use six air holes.

Front-button groups using the same button diameter are listed separately in the parameter table. The exact grouped arrangement should be checked for the selected configuration.

Air Holes, Back Buttons, and Weight

All five listed configurations use 6 Air Holes.

Back Button size and quantity vary by Shank and diameter. The listed weights range from 460 to 984 kg.

Because these are ultra-large products, the exact weight should be reviewed together with the drill-rig capacity, rotation-head arrangement, lifting equipment, transport restrictions, and assembly and handling conditions.

Face Design, Button Shape, and Splines are not listed in the current parameter table. Customers requiring these details should provide the existing product specification, drawing, or sample for review.

Matching the Bit With the DTH Hammer

The nominal 18–24 inch classification and overlapping diameter ranges do not confirm Hammer compatibility.

The current Hammer page lists NUMA180, QL200, and NUMA240 Bit Shanks, while the current Bit table lists MSD18A and MSD24A. No direct equivalence or Hammer–Bit pairing has been confirmed between these Shank designations.

All MSD18A and MSD24A configurations therefore require verification against the exact Hammer Model, Shank drawing or sample, and complete drilling system.

The 1000 mm MSD24A configuration also exceeds the current Hammer page's confirmed maximum hole diameter of Ø864 mm and requires another verified Hammer or special-system review.

For replacement orders, provide the complete Hammer Model, current bit marking, required Bit Shank, required bit diameter, finished hole diameter, and product photos, drawings, or samples before the configuration is confirmed.

Typical Drilling Applications

These 18–24 inch DTH bit configurations may be reviewed for mining and blast-hole drilling, quarrying, water-well drilling, construction, foundation, piling, and infrastructure projects where the required diameter and complete drilling system are suitable.

Final selection should be based on the exact Hammer Model, verified Bit Shank, finished hole diameter, rock formation, hole depth, drill string, rotation-head arrangement, rig capacity, available air supply, lifting arrangement, and operating conditions.

The current parameter table does not assign a particular Button Layout to a specific formation or guarantee a particular drilling result.

Information to Confirm Before Ordering

To confirm a suitable 18–24 inch DTH bit, provide the following information:

Required Bit and Finished Hole Diameter — Required bit diameter and finished hole diameter in millimeters.

Hammer Model — Exact Hammer Model or complete drilling-system information.

Bit Shank — Required MSD18A or MSD24A Shank.

Shank Verification — Confirmed drawing, dimensions, sample, current bit photographs, or previous order information.

Current Product Information — Current bit model, marking, and available part reference.

Required Configuration — Gauge Buttons, Front Buttons, Back Buttons, Air Holes, or other configuration requirements.

Additional Specification Requirements — Existing product specification, drawing, or sample when Face Design, Button Shape, Splines, or other unlisted details must be reviewed.

Working Conditions — Rock formation, drilling application, hole depth, and operating conditions.

Rig and Handling Capacity — Drill-rig model and capacity, rotation-head arrangement, lifting equipment, transport restrictions, and assembly conditions.

Complete System Review — Compressor rated pressure and discharge capacity when MSD is reviewing the Hammer and complete drilling system.

Order Requirement — Required quantity.

For replacement orders, the existing Hammer Model, verified Bit Shank, current bit details, confirmed Hammer Hole Range, rig capacity, and handling arrangement should take priority over the general 18–24 inch designation.

Why Choose MSD

MSD is a China-based manufacturer of rock drilling tools supplying DTH hammers, DTH drill bits, drilling components, and related products.

MSD focuses on reliable quality, correct tool selection, and technical support. For ultra-large DTH configurations, the objective is not only to supply the requested diameter, but also to review the Shank, Hammer, drill string, rig capacity, air supply, handling requirements, and complete project conditions, helping reduce mismatch risk, unnecessary downtime, and the overall drilling cost per meter.
