3 Inch DTH Bits in 90–108 mm Diameters

MSD supplies 3 inch DTH bits with MSD3A, DHD3.5, and MISSION30 Bit Shank options. The confirmed product range includes 90, 95, 100, and 108 mm bit diameters.

All listed configurations use a flat-face design and 8 splines. Gauge-button and front-button layouts vary by diameter, while the listed weights vary by diameter and Bit Shank. The complete configuration should therefore be checked rather than selecting the bit from the nominal 3 inch classification alone.


Available Bit Shanks

The confirmed 3 inch DTH bit range includes three Bit Shank options: MSD3A, DHD3.5, and MISSION30.

Each Bit Shank group is currently listed in 90, 95, 100, and 108 mm diameters.

The required Bit Shank must be confirmed against the exact DTH hammer model or the existing drilling system. A similar nominal hammer or bit size does not establish that different Shank systems are interchangeable.


Diameter and Button Layout Options

The current product range contains three confirmed button-layout groups.

90 and 95 mm configurations — Use 6 × Ø14 mm gauge buttons and 5 × Ø12 mm front buttons.

100 mm configurations — Use 6 × Ø14 mm gauge buttons and 6 × Ø12 mm front buttons.

The 90 and 95 mm bits use the same confirmed button layout. At 100 mm, the front-button quantity increases from five to six. At 108 mm, both the gauge-button quantity and gauge-button diameter change.


Face Design, Splines, and Weight Differences

All three Bit Shank groups use a Flat Face and 8 splines across the four listed diameters.

MSD3A and DHD3.5 — 90 mm: 4.7 kg; 95 mm: 4.8 kg; 100 mm: 4.9 kg; 108 mm: 5.4 kg.

MISSION30 — 90 mm: 4.8 kg; 95 mm: 4.9 kg; 100 mm: 5.1 kg; 108 mm: 5.4 kg.

Matching the Bit With the DTH Hammer

The nominal 3 inch classification is only the first selection step. The DTH bit must use the Bit Shank required by the exact hammer model. The confirmed pairings are MSD3A hammer with MSD3A shank, DHD3.5 hammer with DHD3.5 shank, and M30 hammer with MISSION30 shank.

Bit Shank matching alone does not confirm the complete configuration. The selected bit diameter must also be checked against the confirmed hole range of the exact hammer model. The current hammer data confirms Ø90–115 mm for MSD3A, Ø90–110 mm for DHD3.5, and Ø90–115 mm for M30. All four listed bit diameters—90, 95, 100, and 108 mm—fall within the confirmed ranges of these corresponding hammer models.

For replacement orders, provide the complete hammer model, current bit marking, required Bit Shank, required bit diameter, finished hole diameter, and product photos or drawings before the configuration is confirmed.
