Low pressure DTH bits are carbide button bits used with compatible low pressure down-the-hole hammers to break rock by impact and rotation. The current MSD range is organized into CIR76, CIR90, CIR110, and CIR150 groups, with individual specifications identified by diameter, button configuration, weight, and part number.
Confirm the exact hammer manufacturer, model, and required shank. The bit must match the hammer's driving, retaining, and air-passage arrangement. Provide the existing bit markings, shank photographs, dimensions, or a drawing. The same cutting diameter or a similar CIR family name does not establish interchangeability.
Start with the required nominal hole diameter, then choose a listed part number with the correct shank. Confirm that the diameter is suitable for the exact hammer, rig, and flushing capacity. The current tables list individual diameters from 76 to 200 mm, but not every diameter is available in every CIR group.
Selection depends on rock hardness, abrasiveness, fracturing, drilling stability, and flushing needs. In general, domed buttons are often considered for hard, abrasive rock, while more pointed profiles may suit less abrasive formations. The current tables specify button quantities and diameters, not separate face or button profiles; confirm the available configuration for the selected part number.
They can be considered for rock sections of water wells when the bit, CIR hammer, diameter, air supply, and formation are suitable. Planned depth, groundwater, and cuttings removal need review. Loose or collapsing ground may require casing or a different drilling arrangement. Suitable configurations may also serve quarry and construction rock drilling.
Use the operating conditions specified for the matched hammer and complete drilling system. This bit table does not define a working-pressure range or air-consumption rating. Airflow must also support cuttings removal for the hole diameter, drill-pipe size, depth, and water conditions; do not infer compressor requirements from the bit diameter alone.
Provide the full part number if known, hammer manufacturer and model, shank, bit diameter, button configuration, and quantity. Include any face or flushing requirements, application, formation, hole depth, rig details, and compressor information. For replacements, send bit-face and shank photographs, markings, dimensions, drawings, or a sample where available.
