Bi-Center PDC Bits

Bi-Center PDC Bits

MSD's bi-center drill bit range uses PDC cutters and an integrated pilot and eccentric reaming section to drill beyond the tool's pass-through size.

Product Description

MSD Bi-Center PDC Bits are integrated drill bits that use PDC cutters for full-hole, non-coring drilling where the required bore diameter is larger than the bit's pass-through size. The bi-center architecture combines the pilot cutting section and the eccentric reaming section in one bit body, allowing the tool to pass through a smaller opening and drill a larger final hole diameter.

Selection is mainly based on pass-through size, required reaming diameter, cutter and blade configuration, connection, flushing arrangement, and actual drilling conditions. Detailed models and dimensional specifications are confirmed according to project requirements.

Frequently Asked
Questions

A Bi-Center PDC bit is an integrated drill bit that uses PDC cutters for full-hole, non-coring drilling where the required bore diameter is larger than the bit's pass-through size. It combines a pilot cutting section and an eccentric reaming section in one bit body.
Pass-through size describes the opening or clearance that the assembled bit must pass through. Reaming size, or final hole diameter, describes the larger bore produced by the integrated cutting structure after the tool reaches the drilling interval. Both dimensions must be provided and confirmed together.
Provide the pass-through size, required reaming or final hole diameter, limiting opening details, drilling application, formation and working condition, rig and drill-string information, connection, flushing method, and required quantity. Drawings, photographs, measured dimensions, samples, or existing tool details should also be supplied where available.
Confirm the pass-through size, final hole diameter, integrated pilot and eccentric reaming architecture, cutter configuration, blade configuration, connection, flushing arrangement, and drilling conditions. MSD does not currently state a standard model or size table on this page, so dimensional and configuration details are reviewed for each requirement.
Yes. MSD can review Bi-Center PDC Bit requirements for water well, mining, geothermal, and construction or engineering drilling when the project information supports this integrated architecture. Availability and suitability must be confirmed from the dimensional requirements, equipment, connection, flushing arrangement, formation, and working conditions.
