PDC Drag Bits

PDC Drag Bits

MSD supplies PDC drag bits for non-coring water well, mining, coal and geological drilling, with multiple wing and profile designs, custom configurations and selection support.

Product Descriptions

MSD PDC Drag Bits are fixed-cutter tools that use polycrystalline diamond compact cutting elements for non-coring rotary drilling. The range includes concave, blade and scraper, anchor, cast-steel, confirmed PDC-equipped sintered-body, and custom designs. Compare the wing arrangement, face profile and overall structure, then confirm the required diameter, connection and formation suitability with MSD. For other designs, sizes or special requirements, contact the MSD sales team with an existing bit photo, drawing or drilling requirement.

Frequently Asked
Questions

A PDC drag bit uses fixed polycrystalline diamond compact cutters for non-coring rotary drilling. It advances the hole without retaining an intact core sample. If core recovery is required, select a suitable core bit and matching core barrel instead.
Yes, where the bit design matches the formation, drilling method, rig, connection and flushing arrangement. PDC-equipped anchor designs can also be reviewed for suitable bolt holes. Blasthole use requires separate confirmation; an application name alone does not establish suitability.
Compare wing count together with cutter placement, face profile, blade geometry and flushing paths. Neither arrangement is universally better. The required hole diameter, formation and equipment should guide selection of the complete configuration.
Provide the hole diameter, formation, application, rig and drill-string details, required connection, flushing method and quantity. Include a preferred design if known. For replacements, send clear photographs, dimensions, a drawing or a sample of the existing bit.
Yes. MSD can review custom diameters, wing layouts, profiles, body construction, PDC cutter arrangements, gauge protection and connections. Provide the drilling requirements and available drawings or samples. Feasibility and the final configuration must be confirmed before ordering.
