Tapered Button Bits

Tapered Button Bits

MSD manufactures tapered button bits for top hammer drilling, with 7°, 11° and 12° taper connections and 32–51 mm options for mining, quarrying, tunneling and construction drilling.

Product Descriptions

MSD manufactures tapered button bits for compatible tapered drill rod systems used in shallow-hole top hammer drilling. The current product range includes 7°, 11°, and 12° taper connections, with confirmed diameters from 32 to 51 mm. Available configurations include Standard Skirt, Short Skirt, and Long Skirt designs with different gauge buttons, front buttons, flushing arrangements, weights, and part numbers. Exact availability varies by taper angle, diameter, rod size, and model. To confirm the correct taper button bit, provide the drill rig or rock drill model, tapered rod size, taper angle, required bit diameter, rock formation, drilling application, current bit marking or photos, and required quantity.

Frequently Asked
Questions

MSD supplies tapered button bits with 7°, 11°, and 12° taper connections. The confirmed product range covers diameters from 32 to 51 mm. Available options include selected Standard Skirt, Short Skirt, and Long Skirt models with different button layouts, flushing arrangements, weights, and part numbers. Exact availability varies by taper angle, diameter, and model.
First confirm whether the existing tapered drill rod uses a 7°, 11°, or 12° connection. Then check the rod size, bit socket, required diameter, rock drill or rig model, and current bit markings. A matching diameter alone does not confirm compatibility because the taper angle and socket dimensions must also match the drill rod.
Choose a tapered button bit when the existing rock drill and drill rod use a compatible tapered connection. Choose a threaded button bit when the drilling system uses threaded rods or requires a threaded extension drill string. The decision should be based on the existing rod connection, drill rig or rock drill, required hole depth, bit diameter, and complete drilling system rather than a fixed diameter limit.
Yes. MSD supports importers, distributors, drilling contractors, and project buyers requiring wholesale or bulk tapered button bit orders. Provide the required taper angle, diameter, model or current bit information, quantity, destination, and packaging requirements. Product availability and production schedules are confirmed according to the final order details.
Provide the rock drill or rig model, tapered rod size, taper angle, required bit diameter, current bit marking or photos, rock formation, drilling application, hole depth, current drilling problem if applicable, and required quantity. This information helps MSD check the compatible product configuration and prepare an accurate quotation.
