Compare MSD matrix body PDC bit configurations across nine diameter groups from 4 1/8 to 17 1/2 inches, with profile, cutter, blade, nozzle, and connection data.
Matrix body PDC bit configurations are organized by bit diameter. The table focuses on the main fields buyers use for initial selection: profile, cutter size, blade count, nozzle configuration, connection, and recommended formation.

CASE STUDIES
MSD matrix body PDC bits are complete fixed-cutter bits for full-hole, non-coring rotary drilling, with PDC cutters used as the primary cutting elements.
The current range is organized into nine diameter groups: 4 1/8, 5 7/8, 6, 6 1/8, 6 1/2, 8 1/2, 12 1/4, 16, and 17 1/2 inches. The size tabs show the configurations currently listed for each diameter.
Use the parameter table to compare profile, cutter size, blade count, nozzle configuration, and connection. This page covers full-hole matrix body PDC bits and does not cover PDC core bits, reamers, rock reamers, hole openers, or HDD pilot tooling.
The current table includes short parabolic and medium parabolic profiles. Listed cutter sizes include 8 mm, 13 mm, 16 mm, and 19 mm, with several configurations combining two cutter sizes. Blade counts shown in the table are five, six, or seven.
Listed nozzle counts include three, six, and nine; one 4 1/8-inch configuration does not state a nozzle count. Connections shown across the nine size groups are 2 3/8 Reg, 3 1/2 Reg, 4 1/2 Reg, 6 5/8 Reg, and 7 5/8 Reg.
These fields describe complete configurations and should be reviewed together. Buyers should not assume that a cutter size, blade count, nozzle arrangement, or connection from one row is available with every other diameter or profile. Recommended formation remains pending confirmation in the current table.
Start with the required finished hole diameter and confirm that the job requires full-hole, non-coring rotary drilling. Then match the connection to the drill string and check the available profile, cutter, blade, and nozzle configuration for that diameter.
The same nominal diameter can have more than one listed configuration. Formation and working condition, drilling method, rig and drill-string information, flushing arrangement, and the required connection should therefore be reviewed before a final configuration is confirmed.
If body construction is still being evaluated, compare the Steel Body PDC Bits page. Requirements where the drilled diameter must exceed the bit's pass-through size belong to the Bi-Center PDC Bits range. The PDC Drill Bits category page provides the broader full-hole PDC product structure.
A matrix body PDC bit can be reviewed for water well, mining, geothermal, and construction or engineering drilling where the drilling method, formation, flushing system, and equipment are compatible with the selected bit configuration.
Application labels alone do not confirm suitability. Rock strength and abrasiveness, broken or interbedded ground, expected vibration or impact, drilling-fluid or air-flushing conditions, and the available rig operating range can all affect the selection.
The current parameter table does not yet provide confirmed formation recommendations or operating values. Final formation suitability and any RPM, weight-on-bit, flow, or torque guidance must be reviewed against confirmed product data and the actual drilling conditions rather than inferred from a competitor specification or a similar bit size.
MSD is a China-based rock drilling tools manufacturer with 23 years of manufacturing experience, exporting drilling products to customers in 40+ countries under an ISO 9001 certified quality management system.
The MSD team can review the required diameter, connection, profile, cutter size, blade count, nozzle arrangement, and application information before confirming an available matrix body PDC bit configuration.
For replacement requirements, provide the existing bit markings, photographs, dimensional information, drawings, or previous order details where available. Similar diameters or connection descriptions do not by themselves establish that two configurations are interchangeable.
For a recommendation or quotation, provide the required hole diameter, full-hole drilling application, formation and working condition, rig and drill-string information, connection, flushing method, required quantity, and any preferred cutter, blade, or nozzle configuration.
If the request is based on an existing bit, include clear photographs, model or body markings, measured dimensions, connection details, and a drawing or sample when available. For a new requirement, explain the drilling objective and any configuration limits that must be maintained.
Send the available information through the MSD contact page. Formation recommendations, non-standard configurations, and operating guidance should be confirmed separately before ordering.
